Has the wine harvest started? Since the weather was so hot, has it stated early this year?

My understanding is that it started in certain areas last week or the week before. Here's one article I found from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

It started last month in Northern Italy and in Sicily, and is going on now in chianti.
I was trying to book a tour for my friends in Veneto for October and they said no as they will be in the middle of the crush!!

One of the Vino Nobile growers was at the house this week and they said vendemmia is starting this coming week. The wonderful contadino who helps us still insists he thinks late September for us.

on the news tonight, they said the brunello is looking at a fabulous harvest. down 10% or so, but high quality!
