Thought I'd put this here as he was an Italian painter:
The Frick Collection has a beautiful exhibit of works by the early 16th c artist Parmigianino. Mostly there are drawings, and several paintings as well. The drawings are extraordinarily beautiful, as are the paintings. The museum is small, and so the exhibit is even smaller. P. worked in Parma (of course), Rome and Bologna. There is a drawing that is apparently a study for "Madonna di Col Lungo" in the Uffizi.
I snuck (sneaked?) an afternoon visit today, and there were quite a number of people there, but not so many that it was a bother. So if you are interested, and have the option of going during the week, without the massive crowds, do so!

Just checked and, unfortunately, the exhibition is only there until April 18. It's been open since January, but I guess I've just been too lazy (or daunted by the weather).
