According to R.W.B.Lewis's life of Dante, there are 30 plaques around Firenze with quotations from the works of Dante at sites that are associated with his life or work. I was able to Google a book, probably in italian, evidently of photos of these. I couldn't find the book at any of the usual places.

Does anybody know where there might be list of the plaques? - gedlin

Yes, what you do is when you arrive in Florence, go to the English/American book store in Via Fiesolana (at end of the street on the left if you're coming from the center) and ask for the book on Dante plaques which was written by the British guy who runs the British library in Florence. It is a nice small little book, in English, covering the Dante plaques in Florence.

Oh my gawd, that's so weird to think of it somewhere else. It's been in Via Fiesolana ever since I was a student in Firenze in 1985 and was still there when I lived around the corner from it in 2004. Well the new location is certainly way more central and they'll probably have more sales. That's great that they can afford the rent in Via delle Oche. (I imagine rents are higher in those 'smack dab middle of centro storico' places).
