HELP! I'm traveling to Milan & Florence in June... I've made several attempts to make a reservation for The Last Supper and been unsuccessful and online is booked... any suggestions? What other musuem or gallery reservations are defintely needed in advance? Are reservations needed for the Uffizi gallery? THANK YOU for your suggestions and assistance!!!

I'm afraid I can't be of much help for the Last Supper, but yes, if you're planning on going to the Uffizi, reserving tickets ahead of time is definitely recommended. We've had a few discussions on this recently, which you can find if you search through topics from the past few days. But, just go to http://www.uffizi.com and you can find the information you need. Making reservations by phone is almost always cheaper than making them online. More info on that here:

In June, you'll absolutely need reservations for the Uffizi! Also for the Accademia. I'm afraid I can't help out with the Last Supper question; last time I went was in the summer of 1977 and we just walked in. I'd venture a guess it's not the same now Mad

The Bat----if you get a Friends of the Uffizi membership, you do not need to stand in line there or at any of the other state museums in Florence. If you check the link in my signature, you can read more about that. If you go the last option for buying tickets that I list, you can order tickets on-line for the same price as a phone call.

There are a number of commercial sites which offer tickets to the Last Supper as part of a tour package (half day, etc.).

If the value of seeing the Last Supper is worth the cost in time and money to be part of a tour, might see if any of these companies have availabiltity.

Is the Last Supper considered a State Museum? If we bought a Friends of the Uffizi Pass would we be able to use it at the Last Supper?

Thanks for the information.

Afraid not-----The Friends of the Uffizi is only for museums in Florence.

Thank you everyone for insight to the confusion of purchasing museum tickets. I am going to purchase the Friends family pass.

Have you tried to book on this site: http://www.cenacolovinciano.org/english/index.html ? This is the official Last Supper one, and usually it works... Anyway, you can call them by phone, I suppose they speak English Wink

Have a nice stay in Italia

How do you get the membership, after you pay do they send it to you in the United States or do you pick it up in Florence?

That's an interesting question and I do not know the answer. If I find out, I will include it in my write up about the membership. We bought ours in Florence. I know there have been some people who bought it on line. If you do a search, it may pop up.

Regarding the Last Supper, when we were in Milan about 3 years ago we stupidly had not thought of reserving ahead of time for this visit. We debated getting onto one of those 3 hour whirlwind tours of the city which included the requisite 20 minute stop and visit at the Last Supper. But it was SOOOO expensive and we were three people, decided to do it "next time". So far, there has not been a next time but I imagine there will, someday.

You can get info and reservations at all the city hotels there about these tours.

I found out that if you go through the website to purchase the Friends of the Uffizi membership, they will in fact send you the member cards. It takes awhile, so plan ahead.

For The Last Supper try tickitaly.com. They have a guaranteed reservation for 28 euro. A couple of months ago I was in Lucca and decided to do an overnight trip to Milano. I forgot where I got the info for tickitaly (maybe even here at SlowTrav) but in any case I reserved online on March 14 and got a ticket for 1:00p on March 21. The tour was great and the guide knew quite a bit and was very lively; the viewing is only 15 minutes, so at almost $45 not cheap, but well worth it since you know the wall that the painting is on won't be leaving Milano, making it truly a once in a lifetime, or only whenever you're in Milano, experience.

I just checked this and see available tickets are going very quickly. Already the day we wanted is booked (in July). Fortunately, I had the concierge make ours a few weeks ago. So, don't lag in making a reservation!!
