Hello! I am new here and was hoping you could help me. I read some of the other posts for weddings but would appreciate other answers if you have them?
I am planning my wedding for either September this year or June next year.
Thinking more Tuscany as it just looks gorgeous and so many places to go. But I may be open to other locations too. My fiance says I can pick so I am lucky there!
So I think we will be 30-50 people and I would love to find a place for us all to stay 3 or 4 nights together.
Would like to have the ceremony and reception there as well.
Just started researching so wanted to get feedback here as well as there are so many websites out there with different info.
Not sure yet if I want or need a wedding planner?
Your thoughts on locations and other info is much appreciated!
Hi there, I am actually from Rome but because we have lived abroad and have lots of friends NOT living in Rome we decided to get married near Rome and stay there for the weekend. It was great and I highly recommend the place. We had aprroximately 70 people therefore you should de ok. It is called Borgo di Tragliata near Bracciano.
If you are planning a wedding in Italy, you really should have a planner, specially if it's a legal cereony (civil or religious). It's a pretty detailed process (a "bible" of paperwork!) and getting things organized in a foreign country takes a lot of time, energy and the Italian language.
September is right around the corner, you need a 4-5 months for the paperwork and more for the arrangements for the amount of people you would like to have.
Tuscany is woderful, but don't rule out the Italian Riviera!
If you look at the FAQ thread here on the Slow Travel forums, you will find this topic. which includes a wealth of information on getting married in Italy.

The place we'll be staying when we visit Tuscany (Podere Patrignone, near the town of Castellina in Chianti) has a page on their website about organizing a wedding: http://www.patrignone.com/58/Patrignone_Weddings.html
I would suggest having the legal marriage in your country of origin, and having a lovely ceremony in your choice of locations in Italy. This makes everything easier.
Yeah, for that quantity of people, you will want a wedding planner with or without an Italian legal ceremony. Caterers, flowers, transport... everything needs to be coordinated locally in the Italian language.
