My son, Lance, is in 2nd grade and he has an assignment: We just read a book in our classroom entitled Flat Stanley. This book is about a boy who gets flattened by a bulletin board and enoys many adventures being flat. One of his adventures is to travel by mail to visit a friend in another state. We are going to copy Flat Stanely's idea of traveling to another place through the mail with a class project This project will enable us to learn about many different places. The person who receives the letter will be asked to send us a postcard from where they live. We are also asking that they include information about where they live . AFter they send us a postcard they are asked to put our version of Flat Stanley back into an envelope with the direction letter to someone they know who lives in a different location in our world. The point of all this is to learn about different places. They will be reading the postcards and marking on a map where our Flat Stanleys have traveled.

Is there anyone living in Italy who would please, please, please help us by letting us send this to you? This is so important to my son, as we will be going to Rome, and Assisi the day after Christmas this year. I haven't told him I am even doing this, as I really don't want to disappoint him. I would be happy to put postage or buy the postage and include it in the envelope that is mailed out to you. I think it would also be such a great thing for his class to hear from a different part of the world, and especially since he is going to be going this year to Italy.

Thanks so much for reading this!

Carole

We too took Flat Stanely to visit places here in Umbria...Asisi, Oriveto, even the Perugina chocolate factory.

We put all our pictures on a disk and mailed them and Flat Stanley back to our grandson. Good luck with the project!

If he'd like to go a little further afield to Venice, count me in, too. Maybe we could set up some sort of a relay.

Would Flat Stanley enjoy a ride in a sandolo, you think? Smile

Why not see if your child's school might be interested in participating? Details are HERE, on the official Flat Stanley site.

That could be done, a flat Pauline to be mailed around, not just scanned and copied, with Photos of Flat Pauline to be mailed to Pauline and another psotcard to be enclosed in the with Flat Pauline to be mailed to the next recipient.

Poet, if you would like a Flat Stanley sent to you, I would be more than happy to do it. Sorry it took so long to get back, I just wanted to ask Lance's teacher about more than one, and it is more than fine. Especially since I have triplet boys, all in the same grade and the other two are not doing this project in their classroom, but she welcomes them to do it with me at home! Thanks!
