Does anyone know the easiest (most comfortable?) way to get from DaVinci Airport to Perugia. We had been planning on a SULGA bus but just realized that bus runs from the other airport to Perugia. Oops. Unless someone knows more about this...? Will we never be able to nap on the bus? Should we taxi from airport to a train station and go by train? All help gratefully appreciated, Thanks.

Which other airport? You're not think Fiumicino, are you? It's the same as Da Vinci airport.

If you decide to go by train, no need to take a taxi. Da Vinci Express is a train departing every 30 minutes from Fiumicino "Da Vinci" airport and arriving right in Termini station. From Termini station you can find the following direct trains to Perugia.

- 8.30 am Interregionale, arrival in Perugia at 10.50 am Second class 10,12 euro per person, no reservation allowed.
- 12.14 am Regionale, arrival at 2,50 pm, prices and reservations as above.
- 1,48 pm Eurostar, arrival at 3,53 pm, second class 17,15 euro per person, mandatory reservation (no need to reserve long in advance: you should be able to find vacant seats on you arrival in Rome).
- 6,40 pm, Interregionale, arrival at 8,50 pm Second class 10,12 euro per person, no reservation allowed.

At the airport there is a ticket office where you can collect all your tickets for the trains. There are further options that require at least one train change somewhere.

The schedule from Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) Airport to Perugia can be found here.

http://www.sulga.it/autolinee/linee/orario.asp?ID=3

There are three departures a day on weekdays....12:30, 2:30 and 5 pm. The trip takes a bit less than 4 hours. The Sunday and holiday schedule is slightly different.

There is another airport - Ciampino - on the east side of Rome - used primarily for intra-Europe flights - Ryan, Easy Jet, etc.

Thank you all! Sorry for MY confusion, but grateful for all the info I got so we can make the choice between bus and train. Seems to be no choice now - train seems the way to go!

>>train seems the way to go!<< I am not sure why you would come to that conclusion....unless you are arriving early in the morning.

There is something to be said for getting on the bus at Fiumicino and getting off in Perugia with no change in mode of transportation. But since the first bus isn't until 12:30 pm, you may not want to wait if your plane arrives before 10 am.

In this very case, instead, I would take the bus. Training from Rome to Perugia is faster, as long as you leave from Termini and hit a direct train, but you have to calculate the almost one hour between Fiumicino and Termini and the hassle of moving your luggage on another train, even if you hit a direct train, so thatin the end the bus is faster. And it is cheaper too, and yo don't have to move your luggage from the Da Vinci Express to the other train.

I have taken a few times the bus to Perugia and I recommend it highly. It surely didn't take 4 hours, I think 2 hours is closer. It doesn't stop on the way, apart of Roma Tiburtina station. You can easily sleep on that bus, it's very comfortable Smile
