Hello,

My fiance and I are traveling to Tuscany in Mid January. We were looking to rent a farmhouse/villa/apartment for a week starting on Jan 10th going through Jan 17th. We are both experienced Italy travelers, but are looking for something a little different this trip.

Can anyone recommend a place to rent for a week. We don't need anything to large, and are looking at spending between 400 - 700 Euro.

We do need a place with a kitchen, as we will be doing alot of cooking, and i would love a place close to a wine bar.

We will have a vehicle with us, so driving isn't an issue. But we would like to be within an hour of Siena, Montipluciano, etc.

We are running into a lot of places closing for the month.

And, yes, I know it will be raining. But who cares, we will be in Italy!

You might try Fonte Bertusi-

http://www.fontebertusi.it/ita/

I stayed there in September and loved it. Great location, beautiful apartment, wonderful location and views. It is located about a mile outside Pienza, so close to wine bars. The price was right and the hosts could not have been nicer. They also have a nice selection of wine for sale. They accept credit cards and will mail you a receipt and brochure when you send your credit card charge deposit. Very professional. I believe they are open in January.

I'll be writing an official review for Slow Travel soon. I'll also be returning to Fonte Bertusi in May.

January is not very rainy. If anything is quite cold. But if you find a nice place, you will have a great holiday anyway!

I can recommend two places that will be open in January and I love both of them.
Sant' Antonio which is right outside of Montepulicano. This is a ST favorite for good reason--great owners, beautiful location, etc.
The other is in Greve in Chianti so is OK for Siena but a couple hours to Montepulicano. But--there are many places here to explore also. Fattoria Viticcio

When you rent a car, get snow chains. It's better to have them and not need them than to get stuck somewhere.
