tentatively planning a short trip to both Umbria (Spoleto, to be exact) and Calabria (Tropea) in November and am wondering if anyone can give me a sense of the typical temperatures in those regions during that period.
November is the very start of winter. So deep south (Calabria), you may stioll hit a few warmish days, but you woll need a coat anyhow. Umbria is hilly, which means that it will be colder than the south. Plan for winter gear anyhow.
Early November in Umbria is quite cool, but dry; it gets increasingly rainy by the end of the month, the start of a gelid rainy season. My first acquaintance with Todi was a week of unremitting freezing drizzle, the last of November.
Whereas in Puglia at the very end of last October, it was actually warm enough for us (neither of us particularly hardy types) to have a brief swim in the sea. You needed a jacket for the evenings, though.
