Hello, just wanted to ask if anyone has advice.... our family of six with grandparents and two young children are going to be Tuscany for a 10 day stay and then fly out of Florence very early on a Tuesday morning.
First question, I'm assuming we fly out of Amerigo Vespucci Intl airport - is this right to assume? We fly from FLR to Frankfurt on Lufthansa.
Second, does anyone have a hotel recommendation. We'd love to enjoy a day seeing Florence but leave very early the next a.m. Does anyone know how far the airport is from the city center and if there is a hotel that is medium priced and conveniently located to both the city and airport.
I'm with Bill and Patty -- stay downtown and have a good dinner and afun night before you leave. Early morning taxis are fast -- I've made it in 12 minutes from the Duomo to the airport (yes, you have the right one).
Have your hotel reserve a cab for you and it will be out in front just when you want to leave.
Also, I bet your flight is within the EU so it is really a "local" flight not international so you don't have to be there three hours in advance or even two hours...
I'll third the previous posters. We had an early morning flight out of Florence - can't remember if it was 6:30 or 7:00 - I'm thinking 7:00 - anyway, left our hotel in Florence about 5:30 - 5:40 - worked great.
How about Malpensa airport? I have a 4 hour layover.I found a place when we had a layover in Amsterdam for under $40 which was 5 minutes by bus to the airport.Anything like that?(I won't have my bags) RR
