in Nusco in Avellino was just written up in Bon Appetite magazine which raves about its chef, Antonio Pisaneillo. Has anyone on this board been there and, if so, is it worth the drive from Sorrento or Naples?

sorry...I know this is a faily odd post...but...dying to know...did you go??? How was it?
We recently bought a vacation home about 20 minutes from Nusco and I'm always up for a wonderful meal recomendation! (I've been to Nusco and I find it absolutely charming, BTW :-) also...their market day is Sunday...always nice to have somewhere to shop on a Sunday! :-)
Musetta I think you are in luck! Locanda du Blu has been getting raves from the Italian press for the last year or so. I wouldn't miss it! The chef, Antonio Pisaniello, was in NYC just this past week cooking at the Beard Housein NYC while I was stuck here in Florida.
Carla Capalbo, the author of the Epicurious article, wrote a book about the food, restaurants etc. in Tuscany and a similar newer one about Campania, lives in Nusco.
My maternal grandparents came from the Province of Avellino.
Thanks SO much for the links! I'm definately going to check it out...like I said, Nusco is a real undiscovered gem...great to find another restaurant to try!
(I actually do have Carla Capalbo's book, "The Food and Wine Guide to Naples and Campania" - it is one of the only "guide" books I've found with information on the hill towns of Eastern Campania :-) It IS a little off the beaten path ;-)
Thanks agian! (I'll report back when I get to eat there!)
p.s. yes...it's a bit far for just dinner if you are not staying in the area...about 1 1/2 hours from Naples I'd say...a little more from Sorrento...a little less from Salerno. you could make a day of it though and visit some of the other towns/sights/vineyards in the area ;-)
