My family of 4 (2 teens) have an open day in Siena in early April. My husband will need a break from culture to see the countryside and stretch his muscles. We are all good hikers, and some of us are good bikers. We do not have a car. Any ideas on hikes doable in the area or just a bus ride away, tours, a good bike shop, or someone we can hire to facilitate hiking or biking? Thanks, Pat
Several members have recommended this biking company in Pienza. They may be able to put something together for you, or suggest someone else. And here's a company in Siena, recommended by Cristina from Siena.
Siena is also one of the first towns in italy experimenting "trekking urbano", which the English site calls "urban trekking", but a better name would be "urban hiking" (link). There are four itineraries that will drive you across the center and the outskirts of Siena and all the way into the extreme periphery ofSiena. Don't be scared by this word: siena, like some other towns in Tuscany, blends straight into the contryside.
