Finally! I have finished uploading MY Italy images from this past October 2004. Where Rob wanted his Rome images seperate from the rest of his Italy photos, I have made only one, very long, album of how I saw things Italian. There are a total of 141 images. YIKES! I highly suggest you set the page up to show 24 images at a time, this will net you only 6 pages versus 12 pages of 12 images. I really hope you like Italy through my eyes. I certainly enjoyed shooting them. Please keep in mind I shot something like 1400 images in Italy alone in the 18 days we were there. So maybe 141 isn't too bad, but if you find yourself falling asleep or falling out of your chair, I'll understand. Here is how you get to 'Through Wendy's Eyes #1-Italy-Oct. 2004': http://www.slowtrips.com/photo/showgallery.php?cat=3240

Wendy, thank you so much for taking the time to post such great photos. I especially liked "sitting in the shade", "Buddies in Frosini" and OMG! Osteria Margutta, looks like I must go there where is it located? Loved your Volpaia pics. I sat on that exact bench! also Anthony took the same picture of the "wine vat machine thingy". Volpaia was one of our favorite places. We took a ride over there when we were at the farm house apt. at LaPenisola in Radda. Here is my Volpaia sign picture:
I loved your photos!! We, 12 family members and friends, will be visiting Italy for the first time this October. I hope our weather is just as beautiful as the weather you seemed to have last October.
These are so good, Wendy... (Of course, I expected nothing less...) You have the touch, my girl!
"I think the best pictures are often on the edges of any situation, I don't find photographing the situation nearly as interesting as photographing the edges." ~ William Albert Allard Brenda
These are terrific. You really know how to make it look "fun" as opposed to museum after museum! (Not that there anyting wrong with visiting those but picture after picture isn't fun.)
Isn't Dozza a terrific little find with that great enoteca in the castle? I love it there. (The town I spend my summers in you must have driven right through on your way in.)
I've tried to restrain myself, but I have to ask--how many pairs of shoes did you take on the trip? I lost count. I hate leaving any of my shoes at home, but always limit myself to two, maybe three pair. Maybe I need to just forget packing light and add another bag just for shoes!
Thank you everyone for your very kind words, I am so relieved that they are being well received. For the past few years I have barely picked up a still camera, being put in charge of the video camera for my steady hand. But, what fun I had, and boy did I blow through the 'cards'.
Jan, I am partial to the Ghandi image too, I especially like the contrasts of it.
Cig, thank you for seeing the work, but what a great place to spend the time and putting in the effort-Slow Trav. where these images are being appreciated.
Sharon, the weather is consistantly fabulous in Italy, at least it has the past seven Oct. for us, so I am sure it will be for you and yours.
Brenda, Congratulations on , I made my 1000th today too. I am in good company. Thank you for all of you kind comments, I am glad you liked the way I saw things. Thanks
Jnini-Janet, I am so glad you saw the 'fun' in my shots, they certainly were fun to take. And Dozza was great though pretty much closed up when we were there. So we walked and shot. Thank you for your kind words.
Chris, I must keep the count a secret, but most of my day shoes weigh nothing and take up minimal space.
Somebody asked who the white with red shoes are made by-Puma.
Again, thank you everyone for taking the time to peruse my images, I am thrilled you all liked them. Phew! Warmly, W

I loved the chestnut series along with the chestnut collector, the woman working in her cantina standing on her footstool, I ALWAYS love your food shots, especially the grappa ones (maybe we need a grappa emoticon!)and your long-arm self portraits.
Last but not least, the Casina Valadier! I have never been there, but wasn't that used in the film "Rome Adventure"? It was the contessa's home where Troy Donahue and Suzanne Pleshette lived if I'm not mistaken. I am such a ! I had no idea there was a cafe there!
Oh, another favorite was the Pantheon at dusk shot. The Pantheon is my very favorite building in Rome. Where was that photo taken from? (If I may ask).
Thanks again and my best regards to Rob!

OK, Wendy, the pictures were well worth looking at, and although I don't do it myself, I understand why people take pictures of the food. But including pictures of the empty plates is just rubbing it in!

Susie, the chestnuts series is a favorite, and I had so much fun in the simple task of gathering freshly fallen chestnuts along the side of the road too. But, I learned quickly that popping those smooth dark nuts out of their fierce pretty little shells was better done by the toe of my shoe. AND, it gave a new look to the foot shots Regarding 'Rome Adventure' we admit to being delinquent in watching all the Rome and Italian locationed films. I must check the movie lists here and then we can Netflix the list and see the films. In other words I am clueless to whether Casina Valadier is the backdrop for the film. (We found out that there was a bar there from one of the obscure guide books.) I am sure somewhere in the past I have seen the film, but don't remember. Anyone else here know? The 'Pantheon at dusk' was shot from the rooftop bar at Albergo del Senato where the webcam is located for the P. Rotunda. Here is the link to that webcam: http://81.208.34.15/dynamicindex/camera.html
"But including pictures of the empty plates is just rubbing it in! " Bill, too funny and yet the food was soooo good we just had to clean our plate. Over and over and over again
Philip, thank you, 'Pronto' was just a shot I had to get, he had such flair while on the phone, and the cantina was in this tiny town not even on the map on the way to a smaller town which was. Go figure. I loved the three older people sitting in the shade and the kitty too, all in Teqoia. The lady whose cantina that was so nice, she came out and we 'talked' about her kitty and her garden and all the veggies she grows. It will be a place for us to visit on future trips. I hope they have a small osteria or ristorante where we can cool our heels for a while and then maybe go explore a bit to shoot more. I will be sure to take copies of the images to them next fall. Congratulations on your , did you tell a joke? (I slipped up on that one on my 500th post, but made up with a story/joke for the 1000th-it is in the everything else section. )
So off I go to work with a cold, but will return later. Thank you everyone for you kindness. Warmly, W PS-I am not proof reading this, I must jam so if there are errors-scuzi
