The current record holder has 209 replies and 5610 page views. We are at 149 replies and 1355 page views. I say we keep this thread going until Christmas and see how high we can get it.
We got to know more about each other and it gives us something to read and post during our slow time of year.
This January will mark the start of our 4th year of this message board and for the last two years we saw huge increases of traffic in January/February as everyone starts trip planning.
Pauline: Did you know those of us in the Northeast would be snowbound and be available to communicate our most random thoughts to this thread? Or was it serendipity?

I would like to come to this section more often but I am already 10 pounds heavier from only reading the posts about cookies, not to mention my cholesterol. I bet is reaching the 400's

But for heaven's sake, Amy, don't fall asleep in the bath!!! You must be exhausted. (I know, I know. That's just a normal day for a mom.)
I am thrilled to see MariaV back on the board. Missed you! Re: relationships: I always said I wanted to marry a diplomat or a long distance trucker. The alternative would be an east wing/west wing living arrangement. More mystery and romance and fewer wet towels and discarded socks underfoot.
CarolM- That's a fast trip! Was it fun in spite of the cold?
Everyone's making cookies and I'm making my mom's clam dip. One of my favorite things after
Ya know, I bet we could break this record faster if we introduced some toilet topics to this discussion. Isn't the toilet thread the current record holder? If not, never mind.

I've been doing an experiment. I am reading "Venice" by Jan Morris and to get in the mood I put the CD "The Best of Rondo Veneziano" in my CD player. It worked! I didn't switch to another book for over an hour. I usually read 2 or 3 books at the same time, in order to not get bored.

As you can tell by my regular posting, I am working today. I promised (PROMISED!!) myself I would finish Steve's manual yesterday - but I didn't. I am working on it today.
Plus making last minute changes to the new Classifieds system (Stephanie has been helping me catch things). I have set up SlowTrav to point to the new classifieds now - but we only have 2 listings posted other than me (Stephanie for web design services and Gaynor posted for La Bella Toscana). Tomorrow I will do a mass mailing to everyone who posted on our free system - but I bet it takes a few months for this new section to get going. It is a bit of work to post an ad.
Eventually these Classifieds will replace my endless listings pages (plus bring in some income from SlowTrav). I can trim down the web site - so instead of pages of listings, they are all in the Classifieds - then the site can be all about content.
The snowy weekend was serendipity!! Good timing!!
Now I have to go order turtlenecks from Land's End for me and Steve for our Rome trip (we will be the fashionable couple with new blue jeans and turtlenecks!!) - then back to work.
I am selling a black leather dress on ebay and a guy from Italy emailed and asked how much it would cost to send to Italy. Hmmmm... I wonder what HE wants it for?
For whoever it was that was looking for a good deal on a computer, check out Gotapex or techbargains. The deals change hourly, so you need to check often.

Mark won the washoo tournament. Now we are going to the Christmas Parade. I am bummed - the OB webcam is screwed up. But maybe it will move down by the time the parade is there. The parade ends right below.

This is going to be a rough month with Infopop (they are making big changes to software and servers). I too received some email notifications that I did not sign up for. Go to My Space - Notifications and see if you got signed up for a notification.
Do you mean longer than the toilets and bidets thread? It would be a shame to top then one up. Oops, I just took a small step towards the second longest thread...

Workday has finished and the manual is printing now!! Now I play NPR through the Internet and cook dinner.
Tonight we finish the horrific movie "28 Days" that I rented yesterday. Sort of a modern "Night of the Living Dead". Steve LOVES horror films - I got this for him because he has been working a bit too much lately (and this should take his mind off work)!!
Woke up this morning to a sea of white. It's so beautiful out when it first snows ... and snows ... and snows!
Had some oatmeal and then Steve and I went to the gym. The falling snow had paused so we decided we'd better get out then if at all. On our way back we stopped at J.Crew. I'm a sucker for cashmere and they are having a 30% off sale on all of theirs. I bought 3 crew neck in great colors - candy pink, apple green, and tangerine. Sounds good enough to eat! Their yarns are made in the Lore Piano factory in Italy. Also if you spent over $125 you got an additional $25 off; $250 an additional $50 off. WOW! This offer is good through Tuesday.
We got home and I threw in some washes and started wrapping holiday presents. I then took a soothing bath in the Jacuzzi and continued reading the Gabriel Garcia Marquea's book which I am enjoying. After drying off and moisturinzing I put on a fresh polar fleece sweat outfit - so comfy.
By this time it was lunch so I warmed up some home-made chicken soup with noodles, parsnips, celery root, carrots and chicken. Um-um good!
Now it was time for finishing our holiday cards. I had duplicated some photos from our recent safari to Southern Africa and were sending them off to the some of the people we met in their cards. What a feeling of accomplishment that was.
In the meantime I was defrosting some home-made bolognese sauce for dinner tonight. I obviously love to cook and this would be perfect comfort food for a day like today. We eventually had this with a salad and a bottle of Chateau du Mercues in Cahors (Dordogne region) that we brought back with us last June. So good and brought back great memories.
Tomorrow the plan is to clean out our storage closet and do 2 belated trip reports as well as some Dordogne restaurant recommendations.
Good night all!
