Colleen sent us another article for her Window On Italy column, this one describing a visit to Gubbio - lots of good little tips in there too:

A Visit to Gubbio, Sunshine, Thunder, Lightning, Hail and Then a Rainbow!

Thanks Colleen. I'll tell you, my curiosity is piqued by that Funivia contraption. Not sure if I'm brave enough to try it though (I have hopping on and off issues - don't even ask about the ski lift incident...)

As a newbie who will be visiting Umbria in 2011 for the first time, I can't tell you how helpful, useful, and entertaining these reports are. Gubbio had been off our radar screen, but having read this and others posted here about Gubbio it has shot to #1 on our list of places to go. Thank you!

What a lovely piece, Colleen! The mythology around the wolf is fascinating.

Bettini, if you're able to see Gubbio, I wouldn't miss it -- it's a wonderful town, very atmospheric.

Sorry I did not get back to you earlier! Very busy with many guests in Umbria. You can see why Gubbio is one of my favorite places and so happy to share it with everyone who is interested. The Wolf legend is just wonderful.

Thank you Colleen, this was a great article!

We just made a booking to stay at La Pieve near Cagli in Le Marche for the last week of May next year (5/28 - 6/4). We were already planning to go to Gubbio as one of our day trips while we at La Pieve.

But now I'd really like to try to go on the day of the Racing Silk of the Crossbow, which sounds like it will be May 29th. It seems like it would be a really fun event to experience.
