Ok, we will be leaving in about a week and a half for Tuscany. What is the weather like right now? Has Spring arrived yet or is everyone still in their winter coats?

Thanks!

Looks like we might arrive at the same time. Lori and I should arrive in Florence April 1st from Hawaii and Santa Barbara. Plan to be at Hotel Giglio. I have a cell number if you want to call.

aloha,

Mage, I just consulted the worldwide Jet Stream map. Big Grin Currently the Jet Stream is hanging over the middle of Apennine peninsula, which means the weather in Tuscany is likely to be rainy and seasonal. However, the Jet Stream can fluctuate quite a bit in a week and half. So prepare for the worse -- bring your water-proof outdoor walking shoes and an umbrella, and pray for the best -- sunny days with high in the 60s. Smile

Right this very moment, it is so foggy we can only see about 100m. Spring was here in a big way last week, but turned a little cool over the weekend. Hopefully all cold weather is gone. Yesterday it was in high 50s - just light sweater weather.

To Milano tandards it would be just a little foggy. We start saying "so foggy" when we can se for less than 20 meters ^____^ Some forty yeras ago my grandmom got lost in fog on her way home from the office.

Well we just got our power back on Mad First came the hail storm (ground was covered in less than 10 minutes and then it kept building) then came the thunder (hence no power) and then the SNOW then rain showers. Now the sun is out and it is warmer than it has been in 2 days. Oh and the hail/thunder/snow/rain lasted for 1.5 hours only. Talk about weird weather!

Luckily no hail or snow here today, although we can now hear the thunder.

March weather is called "marzo pazzo" or Crazy March as the weather doesn't only change every day, but several times each day.

Since Mage will not be here until April, should be no problem.

I suggest to see this web site (I'm sorry but it's only in Italian, but I think it's no problem to understand the pictures)
http://www.lamma.rete.toscana.it/cgi/showtext?/previ/ita/bollmet.html#
where you find the weather for 3 days directly form Tuscany region.

Yes, hopefully early April will bring the sunshine to Tuscany. I will have those of you in Italy keep me posted over the next week and a half.

Thank you to all of you for the great information I have received at Slow Traveler over the last month.
