Hi list,

My wife, 9 month old daughter and I are traveling to Florence in October. We would like to rent a place in Florence for the month and soak in the cities culture and take day trips into the countryside. Can anyone recommend any places to stay in Florence that are nice and reasonably priced?

Thanks!
Wade

Wade,
I have booked thru friends as well as off of the internet. One sight in particular I have used is yaif.com. The gentleman there, Luca, is quite helpful and accomodating. I have seen many of the same rental listings on competing sights for differences of up to $700 per month for the same apartment so it helps to check around.

check out www.sleepinginflorence.com the woman who rents these came very highly recommended to me and so far i am pleased with her service. we'll see how her apartments are when we stay in them this fall (going in October for the month as well).

also look at www.vrbo.com and search apartments by # of beds, baths or price. this site also came highly recommended by friends and was touted by the San Francisco Chronicle as being very reliable. we used it to find the apartment for the Rome leg of our trip. again, the man renting has been wonderful in terms of service so far.

good luck!

Lately it occurs to me
what a long, strange trip its been

I used Parker Villas in Florence to stay right in town close to everything, they were also great. Just be careful, many villas are walk ups which might be difficult for you, so get an elevator building. good luck
