We are 2 couples who want to visit Tuscany, from Florence south this October. We have considered many options, villas, apartments, cooking schools, etc.
We like independent travel, and are willing to rent a car. We are considering staying in one of the following:
Il Patriarca
Locanda Casabianca
Casa Toscana

From there we would like to take 1-2 cooking classes, visit: a winery, cheese producer, taste oil olive, shop for ceramics, do the market in Greve and eat at great restaraunts.

Has anyone stayed at any of these places. The other option is to cook with Chef Claudio in the Chianti area for 2 nights and then move south. The only bad thing is that we are also starting in Venice and we would have to move 3 times, which is a bit much for us.

Help !

Welcome to SlowTrav, Joni!

It would be very helpful if you could post links to the properties, so even if people don't have personal experience with those particular places, they may at least be able to offer feedback on the locations or other details.

And I hope you've found our main site, which should be very helpful for your research and planning. Have you looked through our Rental Reviews?

Hi. I stayed at Il Patriarca on my honeymoon. The service is really incredible. you couldn't be treated better. ask them about their wine lovers package. they don't offer it anymore but they let us do it. the meal we had in their restaurant was like nothing i have ever seen before. they also booked two great vineyard tours for us. we got a free upgrade to the suite where fellini used to stay when he stayed there. it was gorgeous. the only down side is that the surrounding area is being quickly developed so there are no great views in the front of the building, but rooms facing the back still have spectacular views. it is easy to get to, but closer to the real world than you would imagine from the photos. I would definitely stay there again.

Have you thought of cooking with Judy
www.divinacucina.com

Her inovative Tuscan food is something special and she is one of the more interesting people I've met in Florence.
