We are excited about our stay in Tuscany in July. Our daughter will join us and we will pick her up at the FCO airport, then thought we would spend the day in Rome. Don't want to drive the rental in Rome so 1) where can park for the day near FCO and 2) how is the best way to get to and around Rome for 4 people? Do we need to reserve train tickets this time of year?

Thanks!

Jody

The airport parking rates are listed here. There's also the Parco Leonardo shopping center nearby; I find references to their parking as 1st hour free, 2nd hour 50 cents, €1 for each addtional hour. The trains from the airport to the city and around Rome are not reservable. You should consider the FM1 train (the only one that stops at Parco Leonardo) to Trastevere or Ostiense, rather than the Leonardo Express to Termini.

The FM1 has a lower train fare from Parco Leonardo; from the airport it's €5.50 per person. There's a flat taxi fare from the airport to the city center of €40; if you're four adults, that's a better deal than the Leonardo Express fare of €11 per person.
