How far in advance should air and apts. be booked? we are thinking of a May 2006 trip.

i booked our apartments for our upcoming October trip just under a year in advance. the air we got a couple weeks ago, but it could have been done closer to the end of the summer i suppose.
this goes back to another thread onhere.

it also depends on how far in advance the establishment will take reservations.

my opinion: anything more than a year out is excessive for just a vacation. with a May trip of next year, you're fine to make 'em any time now.

We went to Tuscany last May in 2005. I booked the villa we stayed in during September 2004. The airfare I booked in December or January.

Where you plan to stay and how popular that area is probably make a difference in when you should book though.

I agree: May and June should be booked really early to be sure to get the house and the weeks you really want.
