Have you seen the review on the Slow Travel site for the Hotel Duomo? Check out Podere Le Manziniaie - it received a glowing review. Also look on Venere.com and TripAdvisor.com for hotel recommendations and reviews.

We stayed at Meuble Il Riccio which is in a really neat medieaval building right at the top of the town. Very clean, comfortable room with a great view over the rooftops and reasonably priced at 85 euros. Owners didn't speak much english but were quite friendly. You are also given a permit to park in a nearby lot.

Thanks for your posts and advice. Funny, originally Meuble Il Riccio couldn't accommodate our party, but just emailed me telling me they could. Read some good reviews but wasn't sure how their rooms were based on their web site. Did search slow traveler, fodor's, etc. for reviews and saw negative reviews of Il Duomo and Il Marzocco, which I was originally looking at.
Podere Le Manziniaie looks wonderful, but isn't in the town center, is it?
Any other feedback would be greatly appreciated!

We were only at Meuble Il Riccio for one night. The room was clean, comfortable, a bit small if I remember correctly, but perfectly adequate. Our room looked out over the town but I believe that other rooms look out over the valley. The rooms are all on a high floor and so are light and airy. The building itself, and the common areas, were quite nice! There was a nice place to have cappucino and pastries outside on the square in the early morning. It was great up at the top of the town in the evening...hardly any tourists...very quiet. Here is a photo of the entryway:

What a lovely photo! I think I'm sold. Quiet, light, airy w/ a view. Sounds lovely. Not looking for fancy, so sounds perfect.
Thanks so much, Janet!
