Great trip report - thanks!! I really enjoyed reading this one. That Jupiter suite is so beautiful. And I'm glad you broke down and wore your sneakers (same thing happened to me on my first trip!).

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your trip report. It brought back a lot of memories about my first trip to Italy.

Too bad about your experience with the taxi driver. I think most of us have had an experience comparable to share. (Mine was in Florence) Complain

have fun planning your next European vacation.

Will you post your Italy photos? We love photos!!

Enjoyed the report so much I went back & re-read my report of our trip to Tuscany in 2004. We had similar mediocre weather and visited many of the same places. While we preferred Siena, Lucca, Arezzo & the hill towns to Florence, if MS doesn't want to return to Tuscany, I know at least one Canadian who would like to tag along.

Too bad about your unpleasant experience with the cab driver in Rome - but I think we can top you with a pickpocket in Naples.

Arsmith,

I LOVED your report, thank you! Good for you for going out to dinner by yourself! I LOL'd when you said MS took your photo in case you went missing!! I have made note of your Florence and Rome hotels for future reference, esp. the one in Rome!

Thanks again.
