Hi everyone,

Which hotel would you pick between Chiaja Hotel or PintoStorey in Naples? They're both in the district I want to be in, and I know that Pinto Storey was refurbished a year or two ago so it is nicer than it used to be. I know that Chiaja is supposed to be nice too. Both are in the moderate price range that I can afford....

Thanks!

I stayed at the Pinto Storey a couple of years ago. I think it was Dec 2003. It was just refurbished so was nice. I do remember a lot of noise from the hallways. Must have been a thin door. And I like to sleep in. So that was a bit annoying. Otherwise it was fine. Don't know the other.

I have stayed at neither....I usually stay at the Mercure Angioino Napoli but I had to choose a place for clients going in June.

For some reason I picked the Chiaja over the Pinto Storey, but I don't remember why. They certainly both look nice.

As an aside, clients stayed at the well regarded Suites Esedra in January and were happy with the price, but found the beds uncomfortable, the rooms small and the area extremely noisy.

I stayed at the Chiaja and loved it. Very nice rooms with antique furniture and very modern bathrooms. The front desk was very helpful and it was quiet and lovely. I wrote a review on Slow Trav. Highly recommend it.

We also stayed at the Hotel Chiaja and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also wrote a review. I was trying to lighten up my suitcase, so I left some books and maps, etc. with the desk clerk to mail the day before I left. They had already taken it to the P.O. and had a price for me on check out.

It was within walking distance of many attractions and lots of restaurants.

If you mean the Chiaja de Charme on Via Chiaia, we stayed there at the beginning and end of our walking tour last October. We also spent three days at the Pinto Storey before the tour started. The Chiaia de Charme is more centrally located, with Pizza Brandi just a few steps away and Cafe Gambrinus down the block. The Pinto Storey is in a quieter neighborhood but near the metro stop at Piazza Amadeo and a quick ride to the Archeological Museum. Both are near funiculars to go up the hill to Vomero. The Pinto Storey is on the 4th and 5th floor of its building. Our room (#9) on the 5th was excellent, at the end of the hall with a window (in the bathroom)looking over the rooftops to the Bay, and a balcony window looking up the Vomero hill. Small elevator. Pleasant breakfast room and decent food.
We had an even more spacious room at the Chiaia de Charme, with a jacuzzi in the bathroom, but that was just luck, as not all rooms have them. No views, as the hotel is above a dingey courtyard entered thru a small door in a huge door fronting the street. Bellboy will take your bags up to the second-floor reception. The desk people were very helpful, particularly for one of our group who got pick-pocketed. The breakfast room got a little crowded in the morning.
Can't go wrong with either one, just depends on which area of town you'd rather be in.

We stayed at the Pinto Storey for nearly two weeks and it was great. Although the woman who appeared to run the place was a little dour, and seemed to lurk disconcertingly at times, everyone else was very friendly. Refurbished rooms, generous breakfasts. A fantastic location; all forms of transportation are just steps away, including buses, taxis, metro (one stop to train) and even the funicular to the Vomero -- but walkable to the center, too. At first glance it looks out of the way, but it's ideally situated to get anywhere. There are locations that look "centered" -- but you'll walk a lot further to get to transportation every day. We had a generous and comfortable room with "double" doors (small foyer between) at the end of one of the halls, with lots of windows on two sides (one overlooking the water) and an excellent, airy bathroom! Wish we were going back!
