For the Slow Trav GTG in Umbertide, May 8, I need to travel from there from Florence. I understand from Bill Thayer that this is to be done through Perugia, where I switch to a different railway. But what I can't figure out is which Perugia station the Florence train stops at. Given the scheduling, if it's not the Ponte S. Giovanni station, we miss the connection. Anybody here who's made this connection and can tell me?

Well, I've made the change to the Florence line there, though not going all the way to Florence. The name of the station is "Perugia Ponte San Giovanni", and you're right, the specific station really matters. In the Trenitalia schedules, "PG P. SG" stands for that thruout.

The little siding at Ponte S. Giovanni is friendly and fast, and they hold the FCU trains for the connecting trains on the FS line (i.e., on your way in to Umbertide); in the opposite direction, I don't know.

Now, alert: I thought the GTG was on the 9th. Have I lost track of current plans?

Mea maxima culpa Bill Not Worthy you are in fact correct and the GTG is May 9th. You have not lost track (was that a deliberate pun? Happy).

Thanks for clarifying the stations in Perugia. This makes the connection possible!

Added later --- actually, I'm not sure the connection IS possible. I'll try and figure it out between now and then.

This is the message that gave me my star! Star Just like the big kids!

Congrats on the star Marian! I'm counting on you to figure out the connections so we get to meet our illustrative ST members in Umbertide. Does anyone know about how long it will take to get there fronm Florence?
