Well, I've made the change to the Florence line there, though not going all the way to Florence. The name of the station is "Perugia Ponte San Giovanni", and you're right, the specific station really matters. In the Trenitalia schedules, "PG P. SG" stands for that thruout.
The little siding at Ponte S. Giovanni is friendly and fast, and they hold the FCU trains for the connecting trains on the FS line (i.e., on your way in to Umbertide); in the opposite direction, I don't know.
Now, alert: I thought the GTG was on the 9th. Have I lost track of current plans?

Mea maxima culpa Bill you are in fact correct and the GTG is May 9th. You have not lost track (was that a deliberate pun? ). Thanks for clarifying the stations in Perugia. This makes the connection possible! Added later --- actually, I'm not sure the connection IS possible. I'll try and figure it out between now and then. This is the message that gave me my star! Just like the big kids! M
