Thank you for your email. Auto Europa does have a road fee charge of approximately £1.10 per day (maximum charge is for 10 days) so I would expect that this is the charge on your Mastercard.
If so - what is a "road fee" and why is it only 10 days ? GB

Their contracts are straightforward: what you see is what you pay to Autoeurope. No surprises!
However, the Autoeurope contract also specifies what the rental excludes and that part comprises a "Road tax of (in my case) of $ 3.75CAD per day, with a maximum charge of approximately $68 CAD per rental", which means to a maximum of 18 days. This is advised upfront; again, no surprises.
In fact this charge, translated to Eur1.81 (or CAD2.90, not 3.75), was applied in my case by Europcar at the time I picked up the car, not by Autoeurope. Europcar called it in English "Licenses and fees", and contractually it was fair and square. In Italian, this fee was indicated by Europcar as "Oneri circ. autov", which sounds like "Fees for circulation of autovehicles" or something to this effect.
I hope this is what you were trying to clarify.

Yes, it's always been a normal fee in the past, although many times it is never charged on your account. Sometimes they charge you - sometimes they don't. What can I say? It's Italy!
