We are off!! My sister-in-law are off next Monday to Rome. Can't believe its finally arrived. Our apartment is in Vicolo del Bologna in Trastevere and we have decided to eat out for our first meal. Can anyone recommend a good place to eat, nothing too expensive,a good pizza will do us. From past experience, when arriving at our destination,Ive been so hungry that we have just gone into the first place that looks OK. A bad thing to do! We have had a lot of terrible meals.I'm sure that there are many good eatig places but its just a question of finding them. Thanks to you all.

Over on our main site are several good recommendations from members who have eaten in Trastevere--SlowTrav Rome Restaurant Reviews. (scroll down)

For excellent pizza in a very simple setting, I like San Calisto.

Just around the corner from your apartment is one of my favorite trattorie in Trastevere, Augusto, on Piazza Renzi. The menu changes daily and there are only a few selections of each course, depending on what was fresh at the market that morning. Very inexpensive too.

Vicolo del Bologna is the blue balloon with a black dot on it on this google map. Zoom in for details.

The google map has other restaurants listed on it, some of which we ate at some we did not.
We did not eat dinner at Checco e Carettiere, but we went to their bar/pasticceria every morning for breakfast (turquiose push pin on map).
Outstanding pastries and service

la Cisterna isn't far from where you are. We found this place through Slow travel listing
This place is a little more expensive, but it is more like and entertainment center than just a restaurant. maybe not your first day, but a most go. best lamb and rosemary potatoes on the planet.
