Bolgheri is a nice village not too far from you. You can also visit the Guado al Tasso Estate (part of Antinori) for some great Maremma wine.

I would also suggest a trip south to Castiglione della Pescaia for some seaside/beach time.

Have fun! Smile

I always recommend this book: A Culinary Traveller in Tuscany. It was a wonderful resource for us when we stayed south of Pisa a couple of years ago while taking Italian lessons in the seaside town of Castiglioncello.

Also, I second Megan's recommendation for Bolgheri. A great restaurant there is Taverna del Pittore. Here is the page from our trip report describing the restaurant.

Fauglia is not particularly nice as an area, but it's near Pisa, Lucca and the coast, so you can take daytrips there.

Personally I'd head to Elba. We hoped to stay a night during our week in Lucca last year but missed it.

Barga and Volterra were both memorable day trips. And of course Lucca itself is beautiful and well worth a day of wandering. Market day was Sunday I think.
