Does anyone have any recent experience with Romanhomes.com in general, and/or their Monti Bernini apartment? Here's the URL:

Thanks,

I have rented from Roman Homes and the apartment we rented (no longer available) was very nice. We walked by the Bernini apartment to see where it was located, and liked the location. The neighborhood is very nice and so is the street.

We have had many good reviews from Roman Homes and a few bad ones. None bad for that apartment. Read reviews here:

OK, I usually hate this, but because I went and read the review out of curiosity, I'll promote laziness on your part: here is the review of that apartment.

I think there has been only one negative review of Roman Homes. You can find all reviews for their agency by following the link Pauline gave you then sorting by agency.

I rented from RomanHomes 5 years ago and have no complaints. Ours was a diffferent apartment but also in the Monti district, which we really, really liked. On subsequent trips to Rome I've always made time to wander around the old 'hood and see it's becoming even more artsy/funky. Because the streets are so narrow, and buildings usually 3 - 4 stories tall, if you are on the ground or first floor your apt probably won't get a lot of light. But with a rooftop terrace, that may not be an issue.

I have recently attempted to e-mail the people at Romanhomes about renting a place for a week. (Their website enquiry form was not working.) I had a few simple questions (is such and such apt available for this week; if not, are there others; if you have nothing for me, could you recommend another company, etc.), but was treated extremely rudely by Dr. Mario Abate - who I assume is the owner.

In the end, I was told condescendingly that in the future, I should make my rental arrangements before booking my flight. And that he can't recommend another company because no others compare to his.

When I responded that there wouldn't be a next time (family complications - which I didn't feel like elaborating upon with a stranger) and thanked him for his response, he then inferred I was implying "my way or the highway - like all the other people in your part of the world."

This is a very rude and insensitive individual who does not deserve any more business from the wonderful members of SlowTravel. If I ran this site, I would remove his firm(s) from your recommended list.

Hi there,
I don't have any information on the rental agency or the apartment, but I can tell you that the Monti district is great. Lots of neat shops and restaurants and it is easy to get to the historical center on the electric busses.

I stayed in Monti last summer and will be renting an apartment there again this summer.

Roman Homes is NOT on our recommended list (see our SlowTrav Favorites. They do not have a classified with us.

We publish vacation rental reviews sent to us, no matter what agency/place they are for.
