It's time for another Italy Photohunt!

Here are the guidelines: You select one of your own photos to post that in some way utilizes the topic. Use the topic as a concrete prompt, or find a novel approach. Each person, just one post/photo per thread topic, (or two if you must)please. Photos should be resized to be no wider than 600 pixels. Too-large photos slow down the loading of the thread, and will be deleted. Read about how to post a photo in a thread, here. If you have an idea for a photo hunt topic, contact one of the Mods to offer the suggestion instead of beginning another thread.

Posting photos in the thread gives your permission for SlowTrav to eventually move the photos over to Photohunt albums in the SlowPhotos Galleries.

This week's prompt is "Arch."

You're encouraged to describe your photo--where you shot it, details of what you were doing or what was going on, etc.

Arches through a doorway in old Citta` Sant'Angelo located in Pescara Province.
The town was called Angulum in Roman times but these structures however are more modern arches.

My husband claims the photo I posted it is part of the ancient Roman aqueduct. Either way, I thought it was cool that it's standing in the middle of the city.

I was primarily interested in the Duomo, located across the piazza, but couldn't resist stopping by Milan's famous shopping mall, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (at least the view was free, because the stores inside certainly weren't Smile)

Can't remember if I shot this arch in Cortona or Montepulciano - does it look familiar to anyone? I thought it was so pretty.

So many beautiful arches to choose from.
This is the view as we came from the parking lot in Pisa. I still remember how it took my breath away.

Well, I am going to be bad, I have 2 photo's I'd like to share. This first one is one of my favorites that I have titled "Are We There Yet?".
This little girl in Venice after a torrential rain storm looked like she just wanted to get to the hotel. By the way, just after 20 minutes St Marks Square was under water, it was amazing to see people walking through the square at almost thigh high water. It was an early rain and they were not set up with ramps yet.

They are catenaries. An ideal arch is actually a reverse catenary. Thanks for a different aspect of the key word.

One more, the lovely Caprice Pasticceria with an arched ceiling and doorways in Palazzolo Acreide, Sicily, near Modica. Besides the scrumptious pastries, they also sold prepared foods, which you could eat there. We had a simple and inexpensive supper there, Oct. 16, 2008, with wine, coffee, and pastries.
