When we leave Rome in February we will have winter clothes etc that we won't want to take home. Do any aid organisations collect clothing etc for people who need them? In Western Australia I would give stuff to the St Vincent de Paul society, where can we leave it in Rome? Thanks Bertoli

I'd give Sant'Egidio in Trastevere a call.

Don't know if its convenient to where you're staying, but there's an old clothes collection box in front of the church of San Crisogono in Trastevere. It's a big yellow box right on Viale Trastevere.

Or look for any CARITAS organizations, I actually believe that ANY church will know what to do or give you directions.

I just emptied the armoires from too small clothes of the kids, equally divideb between red cross donation and caritas.

They accept shoes too

If you are ending your trip in Rome the Baptist Church (Chiese evangelista) at 27 Teatro de valle helps many immigrant families and other poor.

As mentioned the Sant Egidio people do fantastic work also. They are at Santa Maria in Trastevere every evening feeding the poor.
