Does anyone have a great hotel they could recommend for cinque terre? I searched the boards but didn't find much. It will be for a honeymoon so on the nice end. Thinking of Monterosso.

The nicest (most luxurious) hotel in Monterosso is the Porta Roca.

You might also consider getting the deluxe junior suite on the roof at the Doria Park in Lerici...an expansive terrace with an outdoor jacuzzi and a view over the Gulf of the Poets to die for and easy access to the Cinque Terre by boat.

I don't own stock in the hotel...I just love the place.

The hotels in the Cinque Terre towns and in Levanto are not very luxurious (except for the one Jim mentions). Better would be to stay in Lerici or Portovenere or further north in Santa Margherita Ligure or Camogli.

Liz recommends a great hotel in Portovenere and we have some other reviews on the web site:

Cinque Terre itself doesn't have deluxe hotels, or even First Class really other than what has already been mentioned. In the actual five towns of the CT, more common are rooms above restaurants, and B&B's of moderate caliber at best.

I think it would be a terrific blow to most posters on Slow Talk if the CT were to have some upscale hotel built! Frown

Try this hotelhttp://www.villasteno.com/en/We were there a few years ago. Very modern, friendly staff and they have a small parking area. If you drive in get explicit instructions to the hotel. There are great restaurants in Monterosso.

I have stayed a number of times at the Grand Hotel Portovenere. It is a fine 4 star hotel with a commanding position facing the Golfo dei Poeti. The boats to the Cinque Terre leave from just out front of the hotel.

I am friends and partners with the hotel manager, Paolo Monti, who also runs a cooking school (taught in English) at the Grand Hotel. You can do a one day class or a week long class, with courses taking place at least once a month. The cooking classes (and getting to know Poalo) are a nice addition to any trip to the 5T.

a presto,
