OK- we must see pictures of this. For those of you who didn't dig through the International schools thread which devolved into something entirely different, Cristina is having a milestone birthday very soon and thinking to go fuschia. The mention of thwarted desires for thigh high boots was also made. Maybe you can find a lace-up pair that are a little more forgiving? And, if it's any consolation, they wouldn't make it far past my ankles.

Cristina, I have fuschia streaks. When you get it done, have them color all your hair a dark shade (like dark purple) and then put the fuschia streaks on top of the purple. Also, invest in some really good conditioner AND leave in conditioner and use both - this stuff dries out your ends in a serious way. You are going to love your hair and believe me, everyone will comment on it. Plus your kids will think you are the coolest (mommy has purple hair!) I can send you some good touch up color if you need it - they probably have new wacky colors in Italy, but let me know. Special Effects is the best and most long-lasting.
Shannon, I'm doing streaks too not the whole head. Can you imagine my good Italian Mother in Law's reaction to a full head of pink and then how would she explain it to all of the donnine in town Thanks for the info and the offer. I'll let you know if I need it or not.
I talked to my girl this morning and we will attck my very treated hair on Friday. We'll just go strip by strip. Oh and I will put a few purple streaks as well even though purple here is bad luck. Will take pics Friday afternoon.
Amelia, you are too funny! And Kim, what if I send pics and your girls see it and want to do it too
Why are purple streaks bad luck?? Does it have something to do with purple being a color for mourning? I'm sure my super-superstitious mother-in-law wasn't happy when she saw that the flowers at our American wedding were purple, but I don't care, PURPLE IS COOL! I seriously can't wait to do this. I've wanted to forever, but always worked in conservative offices. Now I just have to wait 'til after our Italian vow-renewal ceremony (or do I???) and I'll be as cool as Cristina.
Cristina, as the mother of two the last thing you need is lace up boots. I made a serious mistake and bought myself a pair at the beginning of the season, and now that it takes me ten minutes to put my shoes on before heading out the door (in the meantime my toddler has completely undressed himself, peed on the bathroom floor, upturned a pitcher of o.j. and whined to the point that I begin to understand why people beat their children) I suddenly understand why my own mother only wore slipons until we were all in our early teens.
But pink and purple streaks are very cool. Remember, you only turn 28 once in your lifetime!

Go for it Cristina! But rather than your kids thinking you're the coolest mom,I see it the other way, as I am well on the other side of the 'mommy of a teenager" thing: ...Never pass up an opportunity to embarrass them as they will surely do to you in only a few years!

Well honestly I don't think that my kids would even notice. I am not looking forward to the teen years at all but have quite a few years to wait. When I gave birth to my second daughter, my mother, with the largest grin ever said "pay back is a *****" since she had two girls and I was the devil incarnate
As for lace up boots, nah I wanted the thigh high fuscia and black CFM boots but realized I was too old. Oh well the pink goes in the hair instead of on the legs.
Cristina, I have a base of very dark purple, then streaks on that. My normal color is sort of medium brown which doesn't look good with pink. How much does your girl charge? it is so expensive to do this here - last time I paid one third of a ticket to Italy. But it was worth it!
My grandma (who by now doesn't know what to expect when I turn up) said, well, you are beautiful no matter what you do to yourself. Ain't she sweet?
I just found some gorgeous fuschia dupioni silk in my fabric stash. I've been dying to do a black mad hatter & trim it with that, some net veil & spiky black feathers but I look really bad in that style. If you can wear it, I'll make it for you just for the joy of making it! If your hair doesn't do the trick, that should certainly give the market ladies something to talk about. And Rebecca's right about the lace-ups with toddlers when you don't have anyone around to hog tie them for you.

Have you considered buying lace-up boots with a zipper? I bought the most beautiful pair of black lace-up boots in Florence. They have zippers on the inside, so that I don't have to lace them each time I put them on.

Fab!!That's the look I have been seeing in the shops.. they wanted to do me like that too ( with my shorter hair) not as nice as with long hair.. looks great!
The google ads on this thread are now for Henna and hair dyes!! I love watching what Google comes up with on the different threads.
Steph & Chris - If Google can index the threads to display Google Ads, why won't it index the whole message board? And, do we want Google to index the message board - or is it more fun talking knowing it will not be indexed? Inquiring minds want to know...
