Yippee!! It has finally come...I depart for Rome on Wednesday! I'm so excited. I think I have everything packed and ready....but worry I have forgotten something essential! Oh well...that is what shopping is for, right?
Any last minute advice for a Rome novice?
*** There is nothing better than a Sunrise in a new place!
The idea of sitting at an outdoor cafe sipping wine makes me long to be there too.
Rome is a place with few places to sit, and the coffee shops and snack bars generally have higher prices for seated service rather than at the counter....sometimes, the espresso could cost 3 or 4 times more if you are seated. You will notice that Italians walk in to a bar, drink a quick espresso at the counter and rarely sit down.
That said, you just may need to pay the extra and sit. Rome seems to have a real lack of public benches. The only ones I can think of right now are on Via della Conciliazione, the wide street that leads to the Piazza San Pietro.
