When we were in Florence a few weeks ago Santo Spirito seemed to be permanently closed. There was even a man at the door during Sunday Mass preventing visitors from entering. However, there was no sign of any information about the closure. The lady in the Santo Spirito museum next door, who was presumably tired of being asked about it by puzzled or exasparated visitors, didn't seem to know how long the closure would last. We would have liked to think that someone might have done some joined-up thinking and given her a notice or handout in various langauages to show to those who enquired.

Also, there was a notice on the church door at Santa Maria Maddalena dei Pazzi saying that the Perugino Crucifixion was closed. We tried asking a lady in the church about it and think she said that it was because someone had died.

Does anyone know how long these closures are likely to last?

How does one find out information about closures like this? The tourist information office couldn't help.

It was closed in September when we tried to go in, but I thought it was for renovations.

We went three times to San Spirito last month - I thought I couldn't find the right door or the guide book was wrong!
