I found it on www.itasoftware.com, which is always the first place I look for fares. I verified it at the Continental web site, where I went all the way through the booking process but stopped short of actually buying the ticket - I need to confirm a couple of things at home before I finalize it. The details of the fare are below, but to answer the question asked, $375.70 includes all taxes and fees. Amazing.

Yep, Continental has suddenly and deeply reduced its fares. The fare for my dates is now #$580 plus fees. So I called them to ask what they would do for me on the fare I had paid last month. Turns out that the change fee of $250 per person, which they would not waive, is EXACTLY equal to the fare difference. Oh well.
Wow, what a bargain flight. I have been exploring that site. Nice to know about it. Scott and I are spending much more to get to Rome from Anchorage, but to fly from Fairbanks is still over the top!
So, we will spend a day driving over the Alaska Range to get to Anchorage and save some money there.
After I saw Ellen's post I did some digging and found fares to Paris, Berlin and London for $549 from San Diego next month. Rome and Venice were a little higher - $650. Wah, why do I have to be so broke right now? (We need a tantrum icon.)
The fare (which is fantastic indeed) also shows up on Sidestep and Kayak.
Doing a little further research, it appears that the $376 fare only applies to leaving on March 25 although there are a number of return dates in April that qualify for the fare. Of course the alternative higher fares--in the $400 and $500 range--are still pretty nifty.
Wow! Good for you. Thats great! I am still pretty happy with my $645 that I paid for May. Still much lower than I have ever paid. Now if only Europecar would lower thier car rental prices. Colleen
I just paid $585 RT from Seattle to Milano in April, flying Delta. Considering I have paid $365 RT before for a 265 mile flight from eastern Washington to Seattle and return, this is an outstanding fare.
ellens - I LOVE that attitude :-) Trying to convince my dh that we should just go for it and head over on an unplanned trip :-)! I just can't resist those fares!
I'm with Shannon on that waah! icon - great fares, and I could afford it, but just can't take time off unless it's a school break.
My son and future DIL are going to Italy, they think, for a brief honeymoon because her best friend has just decided to get married in Amalfi two weeks after their wedding. So, while a)they're happy to be included, there's the b) part, which is going to be high fares in late July.
oh and ellens, great job on the fare, and do enjoy the bonus trip.

I would suggest you call Continental again. I had decided to use my Continental One Pass miles when I bought my ticket in January, because the fare at that time was closer to $1000. Then I saw it was down to $375 like you said (Mine is Continental, Newark to Milan, midweek going and coming back) I got a different person when I called back, and she waived the $150 fee to redeposit my miles and I repurchased the exact same flight ticket for $375!
Originally posted by Kim: Yeah, but meanwhile NY to Paris in July-August is still running about 1200 unless we go through Dublin on Aer Lingus - then it's $880.
Well. although long how about flying to Italy and then hopping over to France if the savings is that big like 1400 dollars total!
Robert, these fares are only for the spring. For summer, Newark to Rome is also $1200+. Trust me, I would do as you suggested if it applied to my time of year. Still hoping though they'll run some summer sales next and am working on my Mom to get used to the idea of a Dublin layover.
I just bought a RT ticket for 22 April Rome to Washington DC for euro 315 all inclusive. Iberia has recently added DC as a destination and all the spring fares are good, with many days this low. The best thing for me is that I don't have to be at the airport until 11 so I don't have to do the hotel in Rome thing.
That's a great deal Judith! How do you manage to get to FCO in time for your flight? I'm guessing you might drive to Arezzo where the train connections are better than we have here. For us, even leaving Orvieto on an early train makes for a tight connection to FCO, esp since we now have to allow for the shuttle to Terminal 5. Let me know your secret!

Great fare....
Just a point of clarification about Iberia: their Dulles-Madrid non-stop is about two years old and Iberia has frequently had the lowest fares from the Washington DC area to Italy. We actually took the Iberia connections in 2007 and found the flights fine.

So this flight from FCO to Washington is via Madrid - or is there a direct flight?

My sentiments exactly! I am so tempted but I am so broke! After I spent my entire last trip to Italy in the hospital fighting for life, I am, shall I say, dying to go back.... LIVING to go back!
Barb, I don't have to be at the airport until 11 AM, so I can take the bus from C di C which arrives 10;30, or the early train connecting PSG through Foligno arriving 8:30, then on Leonardo. Obviously the bus is easiest and cheapest if I trust it to not have a flat or other tragedy. I could drive to PSG, but leave my car for three weeks? Don't think so!
The only train I see From PS Giovanni doesn't get to Termini until 8:59, then with the Leonardo Express we just don't have enough time! Our flight leaves at 11:20, meaning we have to be there earlier than you do. I guess when I first read your post I was thinking your flight left at 11:00. For 3 weeks I'd sure be tempted to leave my car at the station!
I do agree with you about the bus - it's subject to the same traffic problems that keep us from driving to FCO on the morning of a flight!
