I know it's all about the fine print - - a stare and compare. Has anyone rented a vehicle through SIXT rent a car? I received an "e" quote, and it looks like a good thing - - see below:

Company: SIXT Rent a Car
Category: T (Intermediate Automatic)
Pick-up Location: Florence AIRPORT
Date and Time: May 22, 12PM
Drop-off Location: Florence AIRPORT
Date and Time: May 29, 12PM
Rate: 7 days @ $79USD = $553USD
Availability Status: Subject to confirmation
Additional Equipment:
NOTES: We only accept payment in US dollars

They do include a GPS, and there's no extra charge for an additional driver.

I'm interested in what others have experienced with this agency, and to cross this task on my to-do list.

It definitely is in the fine print. In the interests of exploring alternative rental companies, I tried to replicate your quote, but I was unsuccessful.

However, you definitely need to read the fine print. I don't know what non-waivable responsibility is...but I would find out before signing on the dotted line.

General insurance protection
Insurance coverage for the vehicle rented includes third party liability according to Italian Law. Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods.

Comprehensive insurance
All rates include Collision Damage Waiver. It remains a Non-Waivable Responsibility which is laid down according to the car group rented and ranges from € 800.00 to € 1,300.00. The coverage is not effective in case of dangerous driving or driving under the influence of alcohol.

Whoa. I'd really inquire as to whether ALL required insurance, the airport surcharge, the VAT are included. Also ask what the deductible is for any damage to the car. $79 per day for an intermediate size AUTOMATIC car in Italy is frankly suspicious.

I did just a quick look at the Sixt site, and from what I saw the VAT was not included in the rental rates, nor the airport surcharge.
