We will be leaving our rental just outside of Cortona likely by 9am and heading to Amalfi for a couple of days. According to the viamichelin map/route thingy......it will take approx 5 hours.

Checking my maps that seems a little optimistic. I'm thinking more like 6 - 7 hours allowing for a lunch stop along the way.

Could anyone who has actually driven this give me an idea of how long it really will take. We are going to use the main autostradas as much as possible, which seems to be a good part of the way.

I will have to give the rental folks in Amalfi and rough time estimate as to when we'll arrive so I don't want to keep them waiting around while we are still enroute.

Thanks,
Linda.

Just moving this up a bit.....hoping to get a reply from someone that has travelled route or that can comment on just how accurate the driving times are that you get from the viamichelin webpage.

Thanks for any info...

It takes about 3 hours on th A1 to get to Naples. One hour and something to get to Amalfi, the timing they give is correct, in general.
Just add a une hour if you find problems or if you eat on the A1.
