We have to see these Monster Gardens! Does anyone have a favorite place to eat lunch in this area? This is a longish drive and we're not sure how to go - east to Orvieto and then south? Or down to Viterbo and then east? Any suggestions about the drive?
But the food is the important thing as usual. I know about the saying - "Do they live to eat or eat to live?"
That could be changed to "Do they travel to eat or eat to travel?"

Absolutely Carol: in 11 years of running around Italy, one of my top three restaurants (and one of the other two has since gone belly-up).

Da Rosanna in Attigliano, about 10 km away. Unprepossessing atmosphere, the cooking very simple, but stellar; or at least last time I was there, see diary, July 20. 2000.
