Hello everyone, Some agency has found an apartment near the Arsenal in Venice for our next stay near the boat stop. Just wanted to know if any of you out there have spent any time in that area and what it might be like staying there. We remember walking through there many years ago but do not have a clear picture of that location. Thank you.
I think it is a very nice area it is where many locals live away from the maddening crowds..you are near via giralbaldi(sp) which has many small markets and a few good restaurants...you can still walk to St. Marks Sq in a relative short time or take the Vaporetto...and since Venice is basically a small place you are in walking distance from almost all the main sights or like I mentioned you can take a vaporetto...you are also near a beautiful garden and "right" across from the Lido....hope this helps

Yes, love it. It's particularly good if you have an apartment because of the ease and variety of shopping on via Garibaldi. Don't miss the pasta shop (whose name escapes me) and the Giardini Pubblici.
