Hi. I have been lurking and enjoying this site for a LONG time. Our vacation is almost here. We leave June 18- July 5. There are 5 of us. 2 adults and 3 teens. We have a villa rental in Tuscany for 2 weeks--close to Terranuova Bracciolini. We fly into Rome and we have a rental car reserved thru Hertz to pick up at the airport and drive straight to the villa. I think we can do this even being tired from the flights ( we live on the west coast so an even longer flight) BUT, I keep wondering if there is a reputable service that can pick us up at the airport in Rome and drive all 5 of us and our luggage to a small town closer to our villa. I'm not sure where Hertz has all their locations. A limo or van would be great. In fact, having someone there with our name on a card when we get off that plane, ready to cart our butts in luxury closer to our destination sounds so nice. Does anyone have any suggestions? Have you looked through the car/limo listings on the Slow Travel site HERE? It looks as if at least two of them provide longer distance services than just airport to city.

I would recommend trying Roma Shuttle.

We used Limo Service Rome last year and were pleased with the service. They confirmed the reservation quickly and the driver was waiting for us when we arrived. Whisked us into town and dropped us at the hotel, all at a reasonable price. (www.limoservicerome.com)

You can also try Auto Europe at 1-800-223-5555. They have a limo rental division.

Hi..this can be a pain in the butt especially if your villa is out of the way a little. We had 15 people with us in May in a villa and my suggestion would be to just get the car and go yourself!
You'll manage O.K. and then you can be assured that you get the car from Hertz. Dealing with car rental places in obscure locations is one big hassle!..Believe me! They don't answer the phone, they don't have the right kind of vehicle, they're not open when you want them to be! etc.
You can rent a van from "www.thrifty.it" fairly inexpensively. That's what we did and it was great.
