we travel quite a bit, internationally, but I'm only interested in getting the intn'l decal for Italy... we've searched high and low and still cannot find, darn it! You'd think the airport would have them, but no, unfortunately.

Are you planning on going outside of Italy? If you are, you will need an international Drivers License and when you rent a car, if that is what you plan on doing, you will have to tell them that you plan on going outside of Italy. They will give you the information you need for that. Also, in places like Germany, you will have to purchase a pass to travel on their roads with a car from another country. We went to France and did not have to do this, but some countries require a fee to be paid when you enter their country. I would make sure the rental car company you are using is aware that you intend to go out of the area you rented it from. Some places don't allow that. It may be cheaper to get a pass that covers all areas, but that all depends on where you plan to go. To get a pass for Italy, just go to the area Polizia Department. I still think the best way to go if you are traveling through different countries is the train system. GL and make sure you research this, as it may have changed.

I think she just wants that sticker that people used to put on their bumpers to show what country they are from. Maybe no one uses these now because the EU format license plate now shows the country (but in such small print that you have to tailgate to read it).

I would have thought you could get them at car dealerships in Italy? Or hardware stores?

Ling-

I've seen them in the grocery store, near the car wax and those tree-shaped smelly things that hang from the rear view mirror.

If you're interested in one that says "MVY" or "ACK" I'll pick one up for you the next time I'm on Martha's VIneyard or Nantucket.

Ling, I stand corrected--it was the news stand just north of San Marco.

I picked some up last week at a parking garage in Florence. It was between the Ponte Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti. They are in the window with all the Ferrari stuff.
