My wife and 12-year-old son and I will be arriving in Puglia on April 19 and would like to attend the Lecce vs. Pisa match in Lecce the following day. Ideally, we would like to purchase tickets for the match in advance, before we leave the US. Can anyone please provide advice on how to do so? Or, can tickets be purchased at the stadium on match day? Grazie.
Welcome to SlowTrav. As I understand, soccer tickets in Italy can't be bought on game day for security reasons. I've looked at some sites but don't find information on buying tickets. If you can't buy them online or find other information, if you arrive early enough the day before look into going to team headquarters or look for the logo on stores that might sell them.
Try Selectitaly.com. They have very a knowledgeable staff who might be able to help you secure tickets. I know they have a connection in Puglia because they offer a cooking class there. They are local in US in Chicago. They secure tickets for other events. I would call and see what they advise.
Thanks to all for your suggestions. I tried the suggested sites with no success (or maybe I'm a poor searcher). I came across this site: http://www.bookingshow.com/default.asp, which had soccer tickets, but not what I wanted. I wound up calling the soccer club in Lecce and learned where I can buy tickets on the day of the match. Thanks again for the suggestions.
I have bought tickets on the day of a match, but normally one needs to buy them beforehand. What you will definitely need is your passport, as your name needs to be put on the tickets (I believe this may only be the case for foreigners)

you can normally buy them on the day and just make sure you get there early enough. A game of lecce vs pisa shouldn't sold out so you should have no problem in obtaining them. It's also far cheaper to get them at the stadium.
Here's an update: We attended the Lecce vs. Pisa match and had a great time. We bought the tickets on the day of the game. The tickets could only be bought in person at an authorized seller (we went to a tabaccaio; there are a bunch of sales points in Lecce). Everyone who bought tickets had to show a photo ID - we used our passports. Our names were entered into the computer and were printed on our tickets. At the stadium, we had to show our passports to verify that we were the ticket holders. Others had to show their photo ID at the stadium as well. Tickets were not available at the stadium. The surprise: my wife's and son's tickets were reduced to 2 Euros each (mine was 25 Euros). Even with the lousy dollar/Euro exchange rate, that was a real bargain.
It also fills in a "blank" for me. We were in Pisa and went into a bar to grab an espresso. In the corner was a booth with what I thought was t-shirts and posters for sale, like a fan club. I couldn't figure out what it was. Now I understand the booth was for sale of futbol tickets. Thanks!
