I can't make it to Italy before June so my Italian phone number will expire in July. I want to keep the number so I don't have to pay for another card. Unless someone knows how to get around it, I'm willing to lend it to someone. I will be going to Italy, possibly September, but I can't be really sure. If not this year then next year, for sure. You can move this post somewhere else if you wish. I just want to make sure it's under the proper category.

If anyone ever needs to add time and isn't as lucky as Cynde in finding someone right away, I am more than happy to do it for you. There is a shop down the hill that sells the time and all I have to do is give them the number and the money and they will do the whole transaction with their computer so you don't need to use the phone to add time.

John, you will need a world phone to use the SIM card. Make sure it is unlocked - the phones you get with AT&T or T-Mobile are locked and cannot be used with othe SIM cards.

I needed to get a new PDA and a new cell phone for domestic use so I decided to take the plunge and buy a Treo 600. Cingular offers an UNLOCKED version! SO now I am awaiting my new Treo.... they are on back order so I hope I get it before the trip. It would be a shame to have to use the Ericsson that worked perfectly last time when I could spend all that time trying to figure out how to get my new toy working..... Of course I bet the perfect place to stay calm while trying to get my phone working will be in a lovely caffe in Venezia Garlic Man

For anybody stopping off in London on their way to Italy (or anywhere): take your locked phone to Chapel Market near the Angel tube stop in Islington and there's a stall there that will unlock your phone for you for £5. I discovered this before Christmas and will get an Italian SIM card next time I go to Italy.

I'm fairly sure there are loads of places around London that will also do this, but they will be in the more suburban areas, I think. Anyway, I only know where this place is.

Sorry for not replying back soon, so busy here.

John, so that means you won't need my SIM card then? If not, Cristina can you tell me more about adding time on my card?

Thanks a bunch.
