I heard that an elevator recently opened up here with great views as it ascends. Does anyone know the cost of the ride, where to pick it up and the hours?

Hi Dingo,

The elevator costs E7.50 for those 18-65, and E3.50 for those 10-18, free for the little ones and those over 65. On Friday and Saturday it stays open until 11:30, I think, and other days closes at 7:30.

But for those who want to walk even a bit more of Rome, as of today you can climb the 196 steps (80 meters) for free.

I haven't yet climbed, so I don't know how "hospitable" the trek is, but the crystal elevator is a fun sensation and, if it is clear, you can see the ocean from the center of Rome.

Thank you for the information. I have walked up the steps two or three times but will have my parents with me on this trip. I'm thinking that the elevator may be great, but is is not worth $11.00 to take it.

lfin,
I've taken the elevator before. However, I remember having to climb several stairs inside to even get to the elevator, which is attached t the outside of the building. Do you know how to get to the elevator and avoid all stairs?

Hi Jason and Melissa,

There is an elevator (just one!) which is available for handicapped visitors. It is manually operated by one of the staff and so is not offered to many, and is not very visible, hidden a few rooms behind the reception desk at the west entrance to the building.

If you need it, ask at the west reception desk.

Do those prices apply to non-EU citizens as well? So many discounts do not....
