I know there are many readers of historical fiction out there and so it's worth noting that Steven Saylor's new book, The Triumph of Caesar, the twelfth in his mysteries series starring "Gordianus the Finder" is being published today.

An overview of the book is here, as is a link to a video recording of a discussion held at the Getty Villa about the writing of historical fiction in which Saylor participated, and a list of his upcoming appearances (mostly west coast) at bookstores.

I can't wait to read it.
Gordianus is getting old. I will be sad when he finally bites the dust. I have been wondering if he could continue the series with his older son Eco.

If I remember correctly, that happened at the end of the last novel The Judgememt of Caesar.

I read it a long time a go but I always retained the impression that it was a very ambiguous ending, open to many interpretations. Maybe I'm wrong

She was jsut about dead. They left her at some temple for healing or something like that. At the end of the book Gordianus spots her standing in the Nile amid the reeds and goes to her. I can't remember if there was physical contact or not, but I didn't get the impression that what he saw was ghost.
