One of you will know where the best place in FCO airport is; to meet up with my friend!
She is arriving from Paris on Alitalia into Terminal B; and I am arriving from Dusseldorf on Lufthansa; within 20 minutes of each other; at 1:30 pm or so.
I've no idea which terminal I would be arriving into. (Anyone know?!)
What would be the easiest place to meet?
Thanks!! Smile

You might get a better answer more specific to your situation, but in the mean time, see the topic "Meeting Place at Rome Airport" near the bottom of the page HERE

There is only one exit from the international baggage claim into the terminal. I have met my daughter there more than once. Maybe there is more than one, but we usually connect to Rome from one of the other european countries and not the US
It can be reassuring if you both have cell phones that work in Europe and can call each other. My Razr has tricky reception in FCO (all the concrete?), but my daughter's Treo has a strong signal everywhere.

I just looked up flights for tomorrow and found that:
LH 03870 from Dusseldorf at comes into terminal B at 13:35.
AF 01604 / AZ 07305 from Paris at 13:20 arrives at Terminal C (surprising to me).

Here's a link to the FCO Arrivals web page

There is a Chef Express coffee shop on the arrivals level outside the Terminal B Baggage claim (close to the elevators). That might be a good place for you to meet.

See this interactive shopping map of FCO On this map the Chef Express appears as a green box just below the "Arrivals Level" (Red background, right end of Terminal B/C) Click on the green box and a "bubble" appears identifying the location.

Under the map itself, (lower right) there are pan and zoom controls for the map.

I have been trying to look at the FCO map. As close as I can tell there is only one baggage claim area for B and C. The exit from baggage claim is where all the drivers hang out with signs with names on them to pick up their riders.

Thanks everyone; but I'm still a bit confused.
As far as I can tell, there is only one exit out of all the baggage claim areas for Schengen flights?
Do you think a good place to meet would
be at the bottom of the ramp/stairs/escalator leading up to the train station?
Since we are headed there anyway?
I won't have a phone with me.

Will your friend have a phone with her? If you have some Euro coins, you can call her.

The exit from the Terminal B luggage area has recently moved. The exit used to be across from the luggage conveyors in about the "middle" of the conveyors. Now, with your back to the conveyors, you turn left and the exit is quite away down - at the very end of Terminal.

This is where it was in Feb 2008. I exited this way to pick up my ride and I picked up my daughter there 2 days later.

The best place to meet someone is:

When you exit the baggage claim at either B or C, turn left and walk down to the end of the hallway. At the very end, there is a bar with many tables and chairs.

It is impossible to miss, and it is a place to sit down while waiting.

Have a great trip :-)

Yes...and I'm pretty sure he's is talking about the Chef Express.

Good luck.

You can't really see the café name, but you see it in the distance in the picture at the bottom of this page, also referenced in the second post above. That's the view down the hallway that Michael mentions. I should have some spare time and will try to get more pictures and understand the layout there better when I'm there in late summer.

Andrew - the new exit for the arrival area is just next to the cafe you are speaking about. No longer do you need to walk down the long hallway - the shops are all the "right" as you exit now.

The new exit is just behind the woman in the red pants in Andrew's photo.
