I just switched my AutoEurope booking from Hertz to Avis, which gave me access to a free upgrade from Economy to Compact for approximately CAD$15 more (for 4 days). AutoEurope was very helpful on the phone.

I received my new voucher however I don't understand the address for the Chiusi drop off location. It says Chiusi Scalo/PO BANDINO OFC VIA MOLISE LOC PO BANDINO CITTA DELLA PIAVE.

Does anyone know where this is? I couldn't figure out which 'street address' to put in an online mapping service.

I know that the Hertz office is across the street from the train station, and I think that Avis is right there too.

No worries, Chiusi is small, it should be easy to find.

I rented from Auto Europe, we picked the car up in Perugia. The only problem was that we arrived on Saturday at four, the Avis office closes at three. Had to take a cab to the airport and get the car there.

Cross reference the train schedule with the Avis hours.

Chiusi is not that small, but Chiusi Scalo is---the lower town where the train station is located. It should not be hard to find.

The Hertz office is located across from the train station in Chiusi and the Avis office is located at a car dealership a couple miles away from the train station. I actually think the signs said Po Bandino, not Chiusi Scalo. It was a little difficult to find the place - had to ask directions when we thought we were in the general vicinity. But they were very nice when we dropped off our car and even drove us back into town to the train station.

Using www.viamichelin.com, if you put in Piazza Alighieri Dante, Chiusi Scalo as your starting point (the train station) and Via Molise, Citta della Piave as the end point (the Avis office), you'll see that it is 1.6km from the station to the office.

Avis is a pretty good walk from the train station. Both ViaMichelin and Mappy have less than wonderful maps of Chiusi Scalo - they don't show all the streets.

If you wish to walk, turn right when you exit the station, continue until you see the pedestrian tunnel on your right which goes under the train tracks. Continue straight ahead - you will see a parking lot on your left. When you come to a major street, turn left, then right on the highway. The Avis office is in the car dealership on your left.
Confusing, huh?

Either call the Avis office upon arrival and ask them to send someone to pick you up - they did this for us.

Or take a taxi in front of the train station to Avis - be sure you have the exact street address, as many taxi drivers will not know where the Avis office is.

Ellens, thanks, that worked. I see where it is on the map now. AutoEurope had given me the impression that it wasn't too close to the train station. I was having trouble deciphering the address though.

Hopefully Avis will give us a ride over to the train station. I guess I'll be looking for the location to be in a car dealership.
