Stephen F posted his trip report about his week in Venice at the beginning of this month. I think he may win the prize for quickest submission of a trip report!

Hi Stephen,
Lovely helpful posting Stephen, thank you. We are off to Venice in a couple of weeks time so the restaurants costings and ambience are particularly helpful.
We didn't try many places out on our first trip as we stayed in an apartment close to Accademmia so now I have Chow! Venice and your
report we will be well armed !
The Kette has just been upgraded from a 3 star to a 4 star after a lot of refurbishments so you chose well.

I really should have done more in describing the Kette ..... yes, it is a four star hotel, albeit rather small (65 rooms total)....the lobby, the lounge, the smoking lounge and the bar/breakfast room are small in scale when compared to the Bauer the Danielli or the Gritti .... the remodeling was done in all marble and mosaic for both the rooms and public areas and the room and bath were quite spacious. While in the S. Marco area it is on a small back street and so, quite private. There is a canal entrance for water taxis as well. The staff is attentive, helpful and very accomodating. They very efficiently made and confirmed dinner reservations for us via email prior to our arrival as well as arrangements during our stay. The Kette was the top tier offered for the last minute air/hotel package we booked through gotoday.com and I can now give them my highest recommendation.

Steve...... enjoyed your report. but
250Euros + for dinner for 2!! WOW! Living in SF Bay area I'm used to some expensive restaurants.. but even The French Laundry in the Napa Valley can't approach those levels. We're going to Italy in June.. and with my 15 and 19 year old in tow it's like 4 adults. Everything times 2... 2 rooms forinstance. Sounds like I'll be paying more to eat per day than my mortgage payment

Don't stress Kurt, there are lots of inexpensive places to eat in Venice. With two teenagers, think pizza, pizza, pizza. Also you might consider an apartment rental rather than two seperate rooms to save money.
