Having enjoyed Chinotto over the years, I've mainly drunk the ubiquitous San Pelligrino Chino, plus occasional others (Strappj & supermarket own brands).

I've just seen someone over here selling Abbondio Chinotto (plus other flavours including a bizarre sounding fizzy mint drink).

The labels are somewhat distinctive, showing (seemingly tasteful) historical 'pin-ups'.

Anyone with any experience of these (and especially any view on the fizzy 'Menta' drink, which I'm tempted by, albeit with some trepidation).

(No connections BTW)

Many thanks

Ian

Yikes, mint huh? I don't think that would be my cup of "tea."

I'm going to put a shortcut for this into the food forum too - in case someone who frequents that area is familiar.

Many thanks - I hadn't thought of that.

Many thanks as well - I'll scour those links to see if it throws anything up. The info I have suggests they've been producing it for quite a while, so that's hopefully a good sign.

Just read some of them and an interesting discussion on the facebook page. Although Abbondio gets a recommendation, there seems to be some good support for Bisleri and Neri (who's Chinottos I've not seen). Also plenty of support for Chino from San Pelligrino, but I have found it a touch sweet as some of it's detractors claim. The other ones will be on my hit list, but sadly little choice in the UK.

There is quite a range of producers! More than I expected.

Many thanks again for the links - I'll certainly give it a try.

regards

Ian
