Gerri,
somehow I missed your trip report. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your solo journey; my hat is off to you for going on your own and traveling around by train and bus! Dorky Traveler Thumbs Up Your accomodation in Assisi looked so idyllic! A great view of the basilica!!

Assisi is one of my favorites. You really do get a truer sense of it's "being" when all of the tour busses have gone for the day. Strolling around Assisi in the mist and fog was like going back in time for me.

Just curious in what way the place in Cortona was "spooky" Eek

Thank you for your emails. A great way to share your trip!

Ciao

Hi Gerri,

thank you for sharing your entertaining emails to friends with us, your board friends.

So glad you enjoyed Central Italy! Loved the way you were so flexible and were prepared to change your plans to fit in with what you wanted to do.

You gave some excellent tips for accommodation, too. Once again, thank you!

Hello Pokey

I just enjoyed reading some of your trip report too. It's a great way to relive some of the travel experiences I had. The Temple Minerva, Piazza del Commune....

I described the convent in Cortona as somewhat 'spooky'. Maybe not quite the correct word - no ghosts. I think there might have been some frail aged nuns there who protested if they had to have a bath. Anyway that was how I explained the 'shrieks' I heard one day. I was not too concerned about this, I mainly moved to see what the other accommodation was like.

Are you planning another trip? The only thing that deters me is the 24 hour plane trip from Australia to Rome.

Gerri - loved the trip report. You captured the joy of being in Italy and not having every second planned. I will have to practice that more!

Hi Gerri, is it getting cool down where you are? The temperature just dropped a few degrees up here.

I enjoyed reading about Beechworth in your resources. I had a trip there years ago, before children. It's such a beautiful area.

Your trip report and your photos are great. I was particularly interested in the convent hotel at Assisi. I'm hoping to stay there next year.

I liked the way you were able to change your travel plans and go with the flow. We did that on our last trip, last October and made a couple of changes as we went.

Italian hill towns are some of my favorite places to be. I've been to all the places in your report, and reading it makes me keen to go back. Thanks again for a great report. Smile
